Upstate New York Connecticut

I didn't become seriously interested in making art until I was a senior in high school. Until then, I was much more preoccupied with music and thought I would find a career in radio. I had been painting and taking photographs, however, since I was much younger. When I was 11 years old, I saved up my allowance and bought my first camera, a Brownie Hawkeye. My family was living in Panama at the time, and I felt the need to make a record of our experience there. This instinct to record is present today in my work.

I've been a painter, photographer, and craftsman for 40 years. I lived in New York City from 1994 to 2006. During that time, I became obsessed with documenting the city in both paintings and photographs, and was drawn especially to parts of the city that are in the process of changing -- particularly SoHo, where I had a studio for many years, and the Brooklyn neighborhoods of Williamsburg and Greenpoint, where I lived. Much of what I have documented is already gone. My fascination with an ever-evolving city is an important part of my work.

Now, however, my wife and I live in the Catskills in the summer and in a small Connecticut city in the winter. I am in the process of redefining my art to reflect the landscapes of these places. I'm also devoting increasing amounts of time to metalwork, including knifemaking, jewelry-making, and blacksmithing.

This site, still under construction, will be divided between both artwork (paintings and photographs) and metalwork (knives and jewelry). I hope you'll enjoy browsing through them. Everything you will see on these pages is for sale. Please contact me for further information. I hope to hear from you.
